Partnering Together in Service

Recently our students in Pre-K to Grade 12 partnered together for a special service project.  Our Grade 8 Bible Class, led by their teacher Mrs. Brey, organized a snack-drive for Street Church which serves the people of Hartford.

During our recent Theme-Day Chapel, Bryan Bywater, pastor of Street Church, shared a little about the church and the mission to serve the homeless population of Hartford. Our students then worked in their partner-grade groups to decorate drawstring bags.  Students added pictures, words of encouragement, and scripture verses.

The snacks collected by the Grade 8 Bible class were then used to fill over 100 bags!  Mrs. Brey was joined by CCS English teacher, Mr. Refsnider, and students Owen M. and Sarah B. for a morning of service with Street Church.  They passed out the bags and participated in the morning service.

During a recent chapel service, they each shared about the experience.  The common theme was the blessing that comes from listening to God and following His lead when we serve Him.

Mrs. Brey repeatedly shared how amazing it was to see so many people walking around Hartford with Scriptured on their bags!

We love to see our students come together in service in ways like this. We look forward to continuing to partner together in the future.
