Cornerstone Students Make an Impact Globally, Locally and Here at CCS

For the past month, Cornerstone students have participated in our annual service-based fundraiser, Quenching Thirst WITH ONE VOICE.

Encouraging Acts of Service

While raising funds for our school is the goal of the fundraiser, this unique approach provided an opportunity for our students to look beyond themselves and focus on serving others.

Students were challenged to find daily ways to serve others in their home, school, and community. Several elementary classes found ways to serve together by creating special birthday cards, cleaning the sanctuary, wiping handrails, and more.  Our students also found unique ways to serve their family and neighbors by picking up extra chores, cleaning up litter, raking leaves, and spreading encouragement. One senior even donated over 1 foot of her hair for a worthy cause. What a blessing to take time to be reminded to be on the lookout for ways to spread God's love!

The Gift of Water

Additionally, Cornerstone chooses to give the first fruits of our fundraising efforts, the first 7% of funds raised, to spread God's love and meet the needs of people around the world. This year we chose to support The Bucket Ministry.  By donating the first fruits of this fundraiser, we are able to provide over 95 families with more than 20 years of clean, safe drinking water! Additionally, The Bucket Ministry is committed to sharing the Truth of the Living Water in Jesus Christ, with the families they serve.

Serving & Celebrating Together

On the final day of our fundraiser, our students gathered together for a morning of celebration and service.  Students enthusiastically participated in the assemblies and learned about the results of the fundraising efforts.  Throughout the morning students volunteered to share testimonies about their acts of kindness and to lead the group in prayer.

Students joined together in their partner-grades to work on some special loving acts of service together.  Throughout the morning students:

  • Created 7 blankets to be donated to ABC Women's Center
  • Wrote Christmas cards & notes of encouragement which have been given to Manchester Manor, to share with residents as needed
  • Created notes, pictures, and ornaments to be given to Support Our Soldiers CT for the Christmas care packages being sent to deployed service men and women.
  • Created Thank-You Posters for the businesses that sponsored our fundraising efforts
  • Decorated grocery bags that were used by local churches to distribute Thanksgiving meals
  • Created snowflakes and paper chains that were used at a Downtown Manchester community event

Teaching Truth, Training Minds & Transforming Lives

This annual fundraising effort raises funds that are necessary for Cornerstone to continue to provide a Christian education to as many students as possible.  We were able to raise a net proceeds of more than $55,000 towards the budgetary needs in order to keep our tuition at an accessible rate.
