Small Business Owner Spotlight:
I immigrated from Bangledesh a little over 20 years ago. As an immigrant, I wanted to contribute to my community. Owning my own business was my way to do that. I owned another Manchester business which I sold to my brother, so it is still in the family.
6 years ago I opened Forest Street Wine & Liquor here on Main Street. I wanted to build one of those really great downtown liquor stores. A place where family, friends and neighbors can come together and shop downtown. That’s my goal.
I have a family - two beautiful daughters and a wife. This is our business and my way to support our family. I am proud of working hard to run this business. I am excited about our new expansion that is coming soon.
The community, the downtown district, and the town have all supported me. I have no negative thoughts about owning this business downtown. This is my town and I love it here
.As an immigrant, I don’t have a really good doctorate or degree or something. I do have a business background. So, I decided if I open a small business it is a way that I can integrate with society and serve the community.
If anyone asks me for advice about opening a business here I always welcome them to Manchester. Manchester is the best town to open a small business like mine. There are good people here. I always welcome anyone who will come to this town to do business.
