I finally had the chance to try out Long Gut Miss Pinny today for lunch. This place is FABULOUS - I can understand now why it gets such rave reviews! First, the owner, Rosetta, was very welcoming when we arrived. The décor is tastefully done and with upscale, comfortable seating. She took the time to acquaint us to many items on the menu and even offered suggestions on which sides would taste best with specific entrée choices. We started off with the Bam-Bam shrimp for an appetizer. The shrimp were a good size and deliciously prepared – her home-made sauce is outstanding. Other area restaurants offer this as an appetizer but these are far better in size and flavor. We then each order the Ox tail. We had never had this before as an entrée. It was OUTSTANDING – the meat was tender and it came with a generous portion of rice and peas along with plantains, and cabbage. It was all very filling and portions were generous for lunch. We both agreed we loved it so much we would certainly order the Ox tail again although there are so many other interesting choices to try on the menu….we might need to explore other items on our next visit. Rosetta clearly takes great pride in her offering of Jamaican food. It shows in the presentation of her dishes and the quality of the food she serves. This is yet another hidden gem in Manchester. We are very fortunate to have Long Gut Miss Pinny in town. I highly recommend this restaurant! Awesome.
