I’ve never had Jamaican food before, so everything was a new experience. My granddaughter and I shared several dishes, starting with spicy shrimp, which was absolutely delicious. (Careful, it uses ghost peppers, but we asked for not TOO spicy and they were perfect.) The oxtail entree was very tender and flavorful, and it was great mixed with the rice. I also tried the ackee and saltfish sandwich, which was good but very salty. The rum cake looks like a piece of dark chocolate cake, feels like you’re eating fudge, and tastes strongly of the puréed fruits in it, and of course, rum. Very different! The service was excellent, and the. cook/server/owner was delightful. It was her birthday, as well as the 2nd anniversary of the restaurant’s opening. I hope she does really well there. We’re already planning what we’ll order next time. Maybe curried goat and jerk chicken?
