Infrastructure Investment
Extensive streetscape and infrastructure improvements to Main Street completed over the
last three years total over $17 million and include: new streets, sidewalks, textured
paving, period lighting, street furnishings, landscaping, and gateway structures.
Public/Private Investment
The Town offers a Facade Improvement Grant Program to property owners or tenants within
the district that provides grants covering up to 75% of the cost of facade improvements
(maximum of $25,000 per storefront) if period architectural guidelines are followed. Since
its establishment in 1992, over $1 million in public and private money has been invested
to improve 33 storefronts in 15 buildings.
Established Community Policing
The Town has instituted a community policing
program that includes two full-time officers designated to the downtown.
Professional Downtown Management
Created in July 1993, the Special Services District employs a full-time downtown manager
who is responsible for the operation and promotion of the district.
